I am a researcher in climate change economics at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, in the Centre International de recherche sur l’environnement et le développement, (CIRED).

My research and writing explore environmental urban policies, and especially adaptation strategies to reduce our vulnerability to climate change impacts in cities. I have a strong interest in prospective modelling, and in understanding how various environmental concerns interact with each other, and with social issues.

I am part of several academic networks and associations, including the Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN) and of the Euro-LCP Research Network. I am a deputy board member of Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, and a member of the scientific council of the Groupement Régional des Experts sur le Climat d’île de France (GREC Île de France).

I teach courses on climate change and adaptation policies in Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, Sciences Po Paris, regularly give lectures in Ecole Nationale de la Météorologie and Agroparistech, and like to communicate about climate policies.

Publications and research topics

For all my peer-reviewed articles, there should be a freely available version on HAL or Google Scholar, either pre-print or post-print. But if you want the publisher version and do not have the access, send me an email.

Most of my papers deal with adaptation to climate change. I have also worked on several projects on mitigation policies in cities, and especially on how urban planning can play an important role on transport emission reductions (actually, both subjects are deeply connected).

You can see all my publications here.
Adaptation to heatwaves

Adaptation to heatwaves

Policies to reduce heatwave risk, impact of land-use on urban climate, nature-based solutions

Climate change impacts and adaptation economics

Climate change impacts and adaptation economics

Evaluation of climate adaptation policies, climate change impacts and vulnerabilities, indirect economic impacts of disasters

Sustainable city development policies

Sustainable city development policies

Climate Policy implications on/from urban areas, Synergies and conflicts between urban climate policies and other urban policies, Modelling of coupled human/natural/engineering systems.

Drafting of French Facility for Global Environment urban adaptation strategy, 2013-2014

Vurca, 2009-2012 : VURCA research project studies cities vulnerability to future heat-waves, in order to provide first insights on the complex interaction between city economies and climate change and on the viability and effectiveness of identified adaptation options.

Muscade, 2010-2014 : MUSCADE project focus on three items involved into city sustainable development : energy, city structure, and climate change, closely linked to each others, at both global and local scales.

Acclimat, 2010-2013 : ACCLIMAT research project aims to study urban development, urban micro-climate, and climate change process interactions. A numerical modelling framework will be developed to couple physical models and socio-economics urban models, which will be driven by local climate change and socio-economic scenarios, including macro-economics, land-use, building materials, technologic and transportation assumptions.
